Final Project: Visualizing Tennis Rankings
Overview
How have the cohort of elite male tennis players performed over time and in relation to each other? These are the most salient questions in professional tennis statistics.
The Association of Tennis Players
web site has the raw information to answer these questions, but lacks a visualization of the data.
Interaction Methods
The plot may be rolled over at a specific x position to get both players' respective ranks during that instant in time, as well as the specific date.
The visualization supports keyboard input for the other interaction methods and the specific keys for each action are listed in the lower left hand of the visualization.
One may cycle through each player using the keyboard. The table, time plot, and profile will all adjust accordingly.
One may also adjust the starting time and ending time of the plot in order to zoom in or zoom out. The default range is from 2004 to the present, and this range may be restored at any time by pressing R.
One may also toggle between dots versus lines, and logarithmic vs linear scale.
